Pulling strings at the Ghent Light Festival

I’ve been living in Ghent for a couple of years now and I haven’t missed any of the editions of the ‘festival of lights’ since it was first launched in 2011. During the festival, international artists make the city shine with their light installations and projections. 640.000 people visited the festival this year, spread over four days… Here’s a photo I took of one of the more popular attractions:  ‘The Cloud’ by Canadian artists Caitlind r.c. Brown & Wayne Garrett. It’s an interactive sculpture created from 6,000 incandescent light bulbs, that you can switch on and off by pulling the strings. More pictures of the Light Festival to follow!

  • How utterly wonderful ! I love any celebration of light when it’s cold and dark outside.
